"You have Breast Cancer." That's not the call I was expecting on a sunny afternoon back in

January, 2007. 

 My mind froze, the phone fell, and I thought my life was over. My two boys would grow up without a mother, my siblings without a sister, and my parents without a daughter.

 The moment I transitioned from victim to survivor isn’t clear; but I believe that transition played a huge part in my healing and thriving. What came next was not fun; the 7 month journey was simply HELL. Each round of chemo sent me to the emergency room. By my 4th and final chemo session, “I was done”.  I refused treatment, and told my oncologist that the chemo was killing me faster than the cancer. I needed time to heal from my 2 radical surgeries, give my collapsed veins peace, and my spirit the opportunity to remember how blessed I was that I WAS ALIVE 

 In these last 10 years I have had 7 women, near and dear to my heart, diagnosed with different stages of breast cancer.  It is because of my diagnosis and theirs, that I am committed to the AVON 39 in Santa Barbara this September. I want to celebrate 10 years of Cancer Free and let  all women, who have been or will be diagnosed, know that they are not just survivors but thrivers.

I am required to raise at least $1,800 to EARN MY 39, but I plan to raise much, much more! I hope that I can count on your support!

I’m walking with thousands of other 39ers. We’re banding together in solidarity and have one goal: to take breast cancer down. So many sisters and mothers and friends have been lost.
